Hi

Phpnuke is very close to my heart because I've been using it for almost every project I do in the past couple of years. There are some great people out there doing work e.g. Raven, Nukeresources, Nukescripts, Aikons etc.

Yet I'm disturbed by the fact that FB does not communicate with the Nuke community. There is also no cooperation happening between FB and the nuke community.

I'm also concerned by the general bad quality of modules and addons (there are definately exceptions).

If you look at the stories that are posted on Nuke support sites, most of the stories are recycled. It appears that these stories are posted all the time to cover up the fact that phpnuke is dying. Who knows, FB has probably given up on Nuke as well.

I've doing a lot of research on Content management systems and it looks like Joomla is the one with very active communities and good QUALITY well written modules and addons. I'll be converting all my projects to Joomla in the next couple of weeks.

so yes, that's about it. What are your thoughts on this.

Heard the same thing, and am VERY disapointed. Ad for my opinion, FB should get one thing right before moving onto the next project, 7.9 is buggy as can be and its(according to FB) "the most upto date nuke". ummm, I actually run 7.9 and can tell you this, I've reverted back to 7.6 with ALL the errors I've gotten, Ive fixed them by replacing the code piece by piece and prettymuch reverted back to 7.6 as that was my reference to compare codes.
Hopefully FB will learn somethin.

Because you believe the glass to be half empty doesn't make it fact. I'd suggest that RavenNuke, among many other active PHP-Nuke-based projects, is evidence that PHP-Nuke is far from dying. Having the same stories posted on multiple website is just a way to make sure everyone in the extended PHP-Nuke community is aware of what's going on.

The number of available modules, addons, themes, etc. has made PHP-Nuke one of the most widely used CMS applications around. You may need to replace the standard modules to get better "quality" (how do you define "quality"?), but there are many to choose from. Will Joomla or others catch up, or do they provide better features? Maybe in some areas. But remember that Joomla is the result of the Mambo community becoming fragmented. And there are those in every community who believe that community's glass is half empty.

Yes, it's frustrating that the author doesn't really support the community. This was probably true before you implemented your first PHP-Nuke website. You can focus on it now (as many have done in the past), but what will that achieve? And if you look no further than this site, you will find a vibrant community (one of several) that is working to improve PHP-Nuke in many ways. The RavenNuke team values input and contributions from the community, uses tools for tracking requests and bugs, and has a wonderful test team whose members work around the world to make it even better. Being part of an active community means being willing to provide constructive suggestions and to assist with development, testing, and support. If you see the glass is half full, do what you can to fill it up!

Just to add to KGuske's comments, we will soon be releasing v2.10.00 of RavenNuke76(tm). While there will be some new features, we have painstakingly cleaned up and standardized (made compliant) much of the code that has been broken for many releases, if not years. We are still trying, the best we can, to keep the core code in tact, logic-wise, so that 3rd party modules do not break. But, as I have said before, we are still working toward a base RavenNuke76(tm) release. The future is still bright; the sky isn't falling; and Julia Stiles gets cuter every day Wink.

I'll second that motion... oh, sorry, I could not resist. Its just that I could not possibly add more to what has already been stated so well! Wink
