My HTTP Referers have been blank since day one of the install.
Also I use to be able to put in soe and dfx and boom my site would be number one on google, now it is nowhere to be found at all. It seems all my ranking is gone. I was fine with phpnuke 7.8, then I installed 2.02.02 Distro and no more. Why do I not have any HTTP Referers? I liked seeing where my traffic came from and who is linking the site etc...
Thanks in advance!

I went into sentinel and turned Referers off, will that do it? I don't see a referer list in sentinel like nuke does.

Did you install 2.02.02 from scratch or were there already Nuke tables in the database?

NukeSentinel can block specific referers, but should have no effect on storing the referers in the standard Nuke table.

Does your host provide referer statistics? If so, verify that these are being tracked.

As for losing your ranking, if your content is the same, there is no valid reason for that.

fresh install - different database
input old news articles/news (same content with new added since install)
I am at work now, I can check statistics when I get home however they did work before I started fresh with distro.
Nuke Sentinel doesnt have google, msn blocked.

That was going to be my question... Question as I had done this to myself awhile back unknowingly.

You should see the Referrer list (very much the same as core nuke) from the NukeSentinel admin --> Blocker Configuration -> Referer Blocker Settings. It is the last large field on the screen. If that field is blank, then I would question the installation of the db.

In my database I went into nuke_referer and it displays nothing "MySQL returned an empty result set (i.e. zero rows). "

In nuke_stats I have had year hits 2006 21279(this is since distro install).

Any Idea's? Sad

You are not looking where I asked you to look... You need to be looking in NukeSentinel not in the code nuke referrer table.

are you sure that you activated referers in your nuke admin preferences. It is not checked yes by default. Since this is a new install you might check that before making yourself nuts with this. I have had 6 clients who never knew that they needed to turn it on.

Do you all have any idea why my ranking fell off when I installed Distro?

I am glad that I was able to help. I have had a few clients lately with that same issue. As far as ranking, I dont really know. Perhaps someone else can help with that.

It is turned off by default because Sentinel does it better.

As to your other issue, was it installed in the same directory?
Does it now have the same content?

Maybe I am missing something here.
Where Sentinel tracks referrers urls?

Your right, I was getting confused between IP tracking and incoming referer tracking.

yes it was, I had 7.5 with 3.1 installed, I got hacked by the old paypal scam people through vwar and babstats (both removed now). That is what led me over here is the package deal, not having to upload and configure every module I install.

My website is located as it always has in a subdomain. My main/start page (index.html) is the www url, then a little intro then loads into the subdomain (same structure as before, everything - minus distro and a new database being the only new things - same host too).

While we are on the subject of referers is thier a way to have my referers taken from my start page (index.html), alot of referers are coming from the main page (as it did before, just wanted to know if there is a way).

Forgot Content is all the same, even has new content that is searchable Question

If your host has a control panel like cPanel, Plesk or Webmin you should be able to use that for reliable referer data.

There should be a way to grab the stats for the index page even though it is seperate but you may have to change the extension to php instead of html so you can include additioanl file such as counter.php

Any idea why with Distro Google, MSN, Yahoo do not search my site any more?

And what code would one put to do this?

Guardian I really apreciate the help thus far, thanks so much.

Have you accidentally blocked them by banning their IP's?
Have you got a link from your index page to your mainsite which google can read?

If you do not have stats available to you via your webhost control panel you could use something like
Code:
include("includes/counter.php");
which will add the hit to nukes stats but that might not work for your referer stats, you would need to see which function triggers the referer logging and try to get your index page to trigger it.

No I blocked two foreign IP's that were flooding, one player (that got caught cheating online game), and a x-member causing problems.

Yes there is a link on the main index.html directing them to the main website (most of my referers are from my main domain).

lol when I put soe and dfx in google this page comes up and not my website: [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]
I went through 10 pages and my site didn't come up on any of them.

Yahoo came up today =o) # 6
MSN came up today # 1 =o)

I went ahead and added my site again to google.

So change my main page from index.html to index.php then add your code above?

PS I do have stats available however I dont want to login to my cpanel just to see stats, I really want to know where they are coming from.
I am also going to do a site map tonight for google.
