i was talking to a dutch techguy about all sorts of programs and internet in general.
And how simple voice-connections were used for services like skype.
But now the funny part...
did you know skype is developed by the same people who made Kazaa?
and did you know that every connection with skype that you make you are offering your computer resources to the skype network?
thats the part i didnt knew and hated the idea....lol
i un-installed it,was shitty quality anyway...
many times when i talked to the u.k it was like he was underwater....
blub...blub..

I'm surprised you had quality issues - I've found the quality to be quite good - even talking to people in Australia from the US.

It was started by the same folks that made Kazaa, and it's now owned by eBay - figure that one out. The explanation was that they wanted to bring buyers and sellers closer together. Who really wants to speak to their eBay buyer or seller??

Well, you can't expect something for nothing...

To encourage people to sign up for the computer to phone service, it is free in the US through the end of this year. I haven't tested that, but the computer-to-computer calls generally have excellent quality.

Actually, it's the other way around. eBay bought PayPal.

as for the use of it,i only had contact with the u.k,never with other countries.
but thing is,i have more chance contacting someone by msn then by skype.
as for free....i can think of a few things that are still for free, but the use of my resources when using skype isnt my choice, nor did i knew my sources were being used...

I suppose this just goes to prove the old adage that 'nothing is truly free'.

That's called the famous "supernode" mode and there's no way to turn it off or prevent it from happening from the application itself. The only thing you can do is put yourself behind a NAT router. You will not be "borrowed" from then.
