Your account no email activation "hack"

Hey all, I'm not entirely sure where to post this... so here goes Smile

How do i find out which version of Rn i'm using? i know it's a recent one, last month...

Anyway, I'm looking to get the old hack for yuor account, that cuts the email activation procedure.

I;ve downloaded the one available in your downloads, but it doesn't work.

Am I messing up somewhere or is there a different hack for the RN distro?

Well if it's a recent one it is more than likely to be RN 2.02.02.

When you say it isn't working what is actually happening, any errors?

Also unless it's a server reason for wanting to disable the email activation do you really want to do this? As it will make it easier for spammers.

I second Jakec unless you really need to, dont disable that feature, it will cause you lots more work in the future.
Are u asking about this because you have a problem with the activation emails? and the easy solution is to disable that feature.

Just another hunch.

yeah i'm having trouble with email activation. users not receiving email's with links.

I'd have to try the hack again to remember the issues. LoL i believe it was blank page, which means turning error reporting on Smile

Have you set up your email/siteurl in the phpbb config? also check them in the nuke preferences too. If you havent set these up, then the site cannot send the emails Wink

Maclain, do you get emails when Submit News is done? You may need to ask your host why PHP mail() function is not configured. PHP-Nuke is using that function to send out the activation link (it is NOT using the phpBB settings for this piece). It is all very standard and working on 1000's of sites, so it sounds like either your host has the mail() function not working properly or sometimes either your ISP or email client or both are considering it spam.
