need some assistance with ravennuke and news order hack

all,

im using ravennuke 2.10.01, and trying to order my news, im amazed there isnt more modules/hacks that do this. at any rate, i happened upon one hack but it was for 6.5, then i found an modification to that hack by dionsis, here's whats going on, if anyone would help i'd be very appreciative

there's a table in my database called nuke_stories, there's a sql statement that alters that table to add the integer field display_order

then within this hack is a modded admin.php, and within the news module, an index.php mod and admin/index.php, anyways on the admin for articles there's a new field/box called display order with a place to put an integer, but if i put in a number and hit save and then go revisit that same article the number doesnt stay it's blank, so then if i go query this table for any results on the display_order field it's empty yet again.

im going to try and see if i can figure out what's missing, but any assistance from someone who might have a better handle on this than me is greatly appreciated once again thank you

Well if you just copied the modded files over your RN files, it will probably not work at all since a lot has changed since 6.5.

You might have to get the original sources for 6.5, and "diff" the modded files to see what they did. Then apply those edits to the newer RN sources. That won't be a simple mechanical process probably, you'll have to think about what each change was doing and how to apply it to the newer RN source.

It may be easier to just write a new hack, or use another news module. I don't know if another news module does what you want though.

well the first hack was for 6.5, but this dionsis hack which is on this website was said to be for 7.5+ ;

aixenv, you may still have to do what Gremmie has suggested, but instead, with comparing a virgin 7.5 script and what you have. There just isn't a hack for RavenNuke at this time.

thats above and beyond what im capable of doing with this language, im simply able to get most of the mods working, far from any type of programmer
