I had applied the Patch as of the time I released 7.4. Unless there has been a change in the original 2.5 patch, it should be up to date.

This may be slightly off topic, but what is the status of the Journal module? A couple of weeks ago it was suggested to not use it, and I have been waiting to see if any kind of patches came out for it.

Any news about it?

Does FB even bother testing his package before releasing it to the masses?

NO! He doesn't! And that is a big part of the problem with Nuke.

FB is keeping up those high quality Microsoft standards and traditions of releasing software that is buggy out of the box. Of course you need to buy it before you realize that.... again, just like Microsoft.

You should apply the same rules as when buying Microsoft software.
1) Never use the latest version. It will be too buggy to run, if it even runs at all. If you are into Alpha testing for someone else that will scream at you for pointing out bugs, then go ahead, load it. Further, do you want the outage headaches? I think not.
2) Never use the base version (use only a "Patched" version). The base code has more holes than Dunkin Donuts. (Or Krispy Kreme, for our Southern Neighbors). If you do use it, get ready for a few hours of work to fix the problems.
3) DON'T PAY! I'm sorry, but if you are willing to dish out money for the latest release from FB, you're an idiot. It would be one thing if the "latest" code was actually the "latest" code, but in this case of PHP-Nuke, every version I have seen includes bugs that have been fixed 10 times in previous versions. Further, there are ALWAYS new problems that didn't exist in the previous version. It's just stupid.

In a nutshell, I don't mind FB selling Nuke. I mind FB selling Nuke with bugs. Next, I don't mind Nuke having bugs, but if that is the case, it shouldn't be sold, but rather released OPENLY as Alpha or Beta software. That way, the "Final" that would get "SOLD" should always be a version or two behind what is GIVEN away.

FB has his software development policies backwards. You are supposed to give away the unstable products to have people in the community make them stable, while you are supposed to only sell stable products!

Unfortunately, since FB has failed to date to even include the Fixes from the commmunity, sadly, you need to come to site like this to find a decent version of Nuke. Figures doesn't it? Go somewhere else to find a better solution that is free.

Ok I know you guys are tiered of hearing about this. I have read all the suggestions and tried them all. I still get the following error

I go to my site [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

I enter my information for my new admin account

I get looped back to the same page.

I have phpnuke 7.4 patched installed

Has anyone figured out what the fix is,

Your help is greatly appreciated

When you installed, HOW did you install?

It almost looks like you didn't do the installation until AFTER you had uploaded the Chatserv patches. This is a problem. If you installed like that, go ahead and delete everything (including the database!) and start over. Here's the proper sequence.

1) Upload the "Virgin" 7.4 files (after you edit your config.php to reflect the desired configuration/functionality of your site). NOTE: Raven has a good copy of the "Virgin 7.4" files here in his download area if you need it!
2) Run the Nuke installation which will create the database and populate the initial tables.
3) Browse your website and create the God account using valid characters which are a-z A-Z 0-9 _. Make sure to checkoff the option to use the same account information for a regular user account...
4) Login and go to the admin.php screen (may ask you to login again which is normal as you are now logging in as the administrator, and not as a regular user) and verify that you have some BASIC functionality and edit your site "Preferences".
5) Upload the chatserv 2.5 patches (over-writing existing nuke files); however DO NOT UPLOAD THE INCLUDED patched config.php FILE!
6) Instead, edit your existing config.php file to make the following change.

Find:
Code:
if (eregi("config.php",$_SERVER['PHP_SELF'])) {

Change that to:
Code:
if (eregi("config.php", $_SERVER['SCRIPT_NAME'])) {

Finally, make sure to remove the blank line after ?>.

Upload the now edited config.php file.

NOTE: There should NEVER be any blank lines at the end of ANY .php file. If you don't have an editor that shows those kinds of things, I recommend getting one (Personally, I use Freeware Crimson Editor which can be found at [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] Never use notepad or wordpad as they tend to mess things up.

If you DID install Nuke using the above procedures, then try this:

Go into phpMyAdmin (from your hosts control panel) and manually change your password and select the MD5 option (to properly encrypt it).

The table your are looking for in the database is nuke_authors.... Select it and the click the "Browse" option to reveal the Author accounts. You should then be able to see the ID that you created as the "God" account. It should be the ONLY account in there. Select the "edit" option.

Type your new password into the password box using valid characters and then select the option "MD5" from the "Function" drop down box. Then click the "Go" button to save your work. You should then be able to go to your admin.php page and log in.

Hope that helps!

Ok Steph,

Same problem as before.

I have uploaded 7.4 Virgin
configure the tables

When I go to [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] and attemp to create an administer account it lets me enter everything when I click submit it appears to almost refresh the same page.

If I go to the home [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] and attemt to create a standard account it says module not active.

I have not installed the patch yet per your directions.

Any further thoughts......

Well, I just tried to visit your site and it appears you have deleted the files and/or tables. What's the status right now?

A little off topic, but I'm having a problem after my superuser account was successfully installed. I log in as admin, and get right to the correct page, but if I click on any icon, it takes me back to the login page. V7.4 patched, Thank you.
