to compete with other blog systems, there should be a way for anonymous to post a comment with the standard name, url, email and comment. maybe with a captacha there too.

Should anonymous posts be stripped of HTML (e.g. links)?

It is an administrative option, with the current *nuke versions to allow anonymous to post -- is it not? Your option too, just as with blogs, to be flooded with spam as a consequence.

I know, contrary to what we'd like to do to lock down our sites, it's the social-norm. take a look at any blog for wordpress or blogger.com. It's a method of social networking for people to be able to comment on your blog with a link back to their own. even if they're just 1 time stoppers, google landers or something, even though they may never return, they're comments are worth gold and show activity.

it was mentioned in another thread, but the ability to display RNYA custom fields in the forums would be sweet... i know any thoughts of further forums integration make some peoples skin crawl, but personally I really like the integration, and prefer it over the idea of a less integrated phpbb3.

although i don't have to develop or support it though, so I'll follow RN whatever direction it takes...

If you are going to do that, you really need to be using the same anti-spam techniques used in those other blogging systems like Akismet.

Here is an Easy one....

An Edit/Delete button on each News Story....

A method for admins to be able to upload files for the download area.

That is another one of those things that ticks me off about the News module. There is an edit/delete link but it is way over in a side block. Thats like parking your car right outside the door but keeping your wheels in the garage - a bit pointless Wink

That's a good point, G.

Dawg, we're looking into NSN Group Downloads, which has this ability. But in the mean time you can use nukeWYSIWYG to upload files (treat it like a link), though you'll need to manually copy the link to the download location.

I know how to do both of them....it just always seems "Harder" than it had to be.

I have one more.....
The Captua we use is hard for people to read....Hell it is hard for me to read sometimes...have an easy-medium-hard sort of choice.

You can adjust the noise level I think in the captcha class file (in the includes directory).
I have just discovered a new way of creating a CAPTCHA that does not require any fonts, server side GD libraries or any other server side dependancies and whats more, no numbers or letters to type.
I am not suggesting it would ever replace what we have in RN at the moment but as a new concept in CAPTCHA I'm really excited about it. I just need to send copies to the Team for evaluation to see if it really is as good as it seems to be.

We've also looked at recaptcha, but since that's a service, it requires using another site, which is something many are unwilling to use.

I would really, really like to see an audio captcha feature implimented. Raven had been working on this about a year ago. This would be very useful and make the cms much more accessible. :d
SERIOUSLY, this is needed!

It would also be nice to have an easier way of arranging the blocks. All of that clicking arrows up and down, very tedious!

In 2.3 you can set the numbers for the order of the block instead of hitting the arrows. This is probably the best thing unless it is switched over to ajax or something and use drag and drop. to arrange them.

There is a mod out that that does this. Its display is not very refined, but it does the job. Without googleing it I am not sure of its name or who made it. It was posted in the news a while back. I am sure some of you know what I am talking about. He also has an ajax module administration.

Now that we have jQuery as a core library, it, along with some very nice plugins, such as the GUI one, will make enhancements like this much easier (and fun...).

The audio captcha would be so nice to have for the visually impaired. Without it, getting into almost any website is virtually impossible. Just a thought!

recaptcha has audio built in, but in addition to being hosted on another server, there are other issues (namely, that it requires too much space and wouldn't work on login blocks, for example).

I think reCaptcha also needs you to register for a free license key as well.

Raven had it working at least in the testing phase. I think that after that he got tied up with all of the RN work and it got put on a back burner. But, making the sites accessible for everyone, would be a wonderful thing. Currently, a person with limited vision cannot even log into a nuke website with captcha turned on.
