I installed the latest Shout Box from the addons and I get a 406 error on just about everything associated with this module, including the gifs associated with it... any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

A 406 is the mod_security Apache addon return code. It means the mod_security rules are matching something in the POST/GET strings that it is interpreting as a threat. Your host should be able to tell you specifically what the string is by looking at the mod_security log.
