i dont know what topic to put this under, i didnt see any that it really fit in Confused
so anyway, here goes.
i found the New User Auto Activation Hack, wich would be unbelievably great considering my free host wont let nuke email member activation mail. but... the instructions are VERY hard to follow ( atleast for me they are ).
also, i dont know if its being worked on or not anymore. but im using php-nuke 6.7 is there a newer version in the works, or has this been tested on 6.7?

What hard to follow?

Right from the INSTALL instructions:

Backup modules/Your_Account/index.php
Edit modules/Your_Account/index.php
Find the function finishNewUser()
Replace it with this one
That's it!

You replace the finishNewUser() function with the one in the download. Couldn't be any simpler Wink AFAIK it works on 6.7 as I haven't heard otherwise.

As with any and all functions in PHP, it is defined as

function () {

//code

}

Yep, I've posted many warning messages about using Notepad and/or Wordpad. They are not meant for programming editors. I recommend Textpad.

I added this hack and I think it is going to help a lot. I have ran into one problem though.

The 'date joined' column is messed up. Check out j.white (created two accounts)

I was unable to see the link because I'm not registered, but the hack does not alter any data at all. So, if something is messed up, I suspect that something else is amiss. Can you provide me with a user/pass to see it?

You're sure you're talking about the New User Activation Hack? I just installed it on a fresh install of 6.8 and it worked perfectly and translated the date perfectly. As I said, I didn't alter the code that translates the data so I was as surprized as you were. Try deleting those 2 users from the table, reinstall the finishUser() function, and re-register. I know that for the 1600+ who have d/l and tried it, if this were an issue with the hack I would have heard about it by now, so I'm fairly confident it's something else but I don't yet know what.

And I just reaffirmed that it still works correctly on 6.5

I am pretty new at this nuke stuff and have made a lot of changes lately. It is possible that I have done something else.

Should I create a log of changes and add ons I am doing so I can track problems or something?

I really appreciate your help, Raven. I have a hard time getting questions answered at the busy forums. Very Happy

Time to sit down and and try and figure out what I have done over the last 3 months. Laughing

Fortunantly I have saved most of the files I have uploaded into a special Nuke folder on my hard drive. I can go over that list and try and remember which ones I have installed. Laughing

Edit: Trying to get my sig to work Very Happy

I had another person sign up for an account today and the date came across just fine. I have not done anything new. I wonder if someone is behind a huge firewall or something if it would make a difference. Very strange.

I just registered an account and the date is fine.

On another note how do I edit the available web sites in the 'my headlines' area under 'your account'?
