has anyone come acrross hack which seperates large news topics into multiple pages??

say you have 200 articles. The current index page only lists 10 (is that right?). Is there a way to list ten on each page over 20 pages.???

i am also after a hack which allows topics to have sub topics..
for example

topic 1
topic 2 speedtype subtopic 2.1 speedtype subtopic 2.2
topic 3
topic 4 > subtopic 4.1
