Half the problem was that new users couldn't register on the site, they kept getting the message "you are trying to access a restricted area..." and after trawling through posts in these forums I found the solution was that I had (for some unknown reason and I can't remember doing it ) set the 'Your Account' module to registered users only, resetting to all visitors solved this.
The other half of the problem remains, some registered users can't log in to the site and get the same message as above. I had thought that the above fix had sorted the problem but it still seems to exist. I still have registered users who cannot log in. I have asked them to delete cookies and try again, but that hasn't worked and I am now wondering if my users database table is corrupt or if there's some other misconfiguration. Not confident enough with MySQL to go tinkering with it without advice.
I use RavenNuke7.6 v2 ( a new fresh install ) and restored my nuke_users table and forums etc from my old database. Previously used PNP 7.6 and had a similar problem which is what prompted me to do a clean install.

This first sentence concerns me! How did you restored my nuke_users table and forums? Hopefully you meant to say that you inserted the *data* and did not replace the tables? If you replaced the tables, in my opinion, you need to go back to the core RavenNuke76 2.x tables and then instead load just the data into the tables.
Now, it is also important that the two databases are brought up to the same version and patch level and BBtoNuke version as RavenNuke76 2.02. You can use the core nuke upgrade scripts and the patch upgrade script to get your current database to the appropriate level, then dump just the data, and then run those inserts through your fresh RN2.02 database.
Ok, I restored the data from my tables, i.e. inserted them into the existing tables as you pointed out. Bad choice of words on my part. **edit** both problems were solved with the solution in my last post, some of my members were reporting the fault without having attempted to log in after the fix. BTW I love RavenNuke, it's great to have a secure 'vanilla flavoured' site that I can pick and choose what 'bells & whistles' to add. Love the forums too, a great wealth of knowledge and experience to dip in to.
