Me thinks you jump to conclusions too easily Laughing

Try it yourself and see what happens. This is the first time I've ever heard of this and I just tested it on my site and I had no problem. If it is to be a regular issue then it's probably tied to some customization issue. Let us know if you can repeat it on a 100% basis.

I had it happen in 6.5 awhile back, had to reset all the forums, it locked them. Don't know what caused it, but Raven if you think back you went thru this with me. It somehow set everything to private and user to inactive in bb

Well, I never figured out what caused it, but what fixed it was going into forum admin resetting the user to active and resetting the forums to public since they all were somehow set to private during that fiasco.
It's never happened again, and I believe that I have had members change email since then. When it happened to me it was a forum mod that changed his email, and I thought he must somehow have reset things.
Anyway, hope it helps. I'm not the most knowledgable on this, but with Raven's help, I'm learning.

Well, that user got an email notification that his account had been changed to inactive. The email was completely blank. Very strange. I will check to see if the forums changed to private.

It will be important to know if they changed their email address in Your Info or in Forum Profile.

I believe that is a security issue in phpBB. If you change your email address in your profile, it will deactivate your account until an adminreactivates it. This is to prevent Accounts from being stolen.

Because as we all know, if you lose your password, it is your email address that becomes the key to getting a new one.
