I just logged onto my site and now i notice that "hits today" and "hots yesterday" are both same and everytime the page refreshes, both numbers are the same? Weird!

ie: Hits New Today: 48
Hits New Yesterday: 48

I had the same problem, except it was the same with the new users stats, as well.

I created a new database, backed up the original and uploaded it, changed the info in my config.php and everything started working properly.

Although I am not sure, it appears to have been a problem with the database.
