Hi,
Im running the new version of Sentinel on my site and was wondering what are the best settings to use on Sentinel in the Admin panel?
PS - The 2 files .htaccess & .staccess do they both need to be set to 666? |

hi DaveTomneyUK,
your talking about personal preferences.
its whatever you like.
But for example...
| Code: |
ADMIN Blocker Settings
AUTHOR Blocker Settings
CLIKE Blocker Settings
UNION Blocker Settings
Filters Blocker Settings
Harvester Blocker Settings
Referer Blocker Settings
|
personaly i have them set to permanent, block, mail.
and believe me it trashes every idiot and does a great job..
but now it gets realy tricky..
these settings.....
| Code: |
Scripting Blocker Settings
Request Method Blocker Settings
String Blocker Settings
|
thats realy sensitive,so watchout with the settings.
cause when you have a very active site with a lot of stuff....
then a lot of people can get kicked everytime.
as i said...it can...but depends on how you set it. |

Okay, so Google is being blocked from "harvesting" the news from my site, to make it available in the news section on google.
Should I quit blocking harvester programs?
What are harvester programs? What do they do?
Thanks. |

Harvesters harvest e-mail address and other information for their use. One of the last things you want (I hope) is for someone to harvest the e-mail addresses of your users. This is really one that should be activated, in my opinion! |

The safest I think is to add the google IPs to the protected list. This eliminates the issue. |
