What I'm thinking of having on my home page is just a message and a last 5 news article block.
Any ideas on how to get rid of a "module" for the home page? |

In your admin you have the option of setting what module is active in home. In other words you could have the download module in home instead of news. You can just as easily write a custom module and have it as home. |

Right. But I want *nothing* in the home page except the last 5 news article block (or the one you will be tweaking) and a "message". 
It just occurred to me I should write a module that does nothing? That doesn't affect the theme or anything does it? |

Why not just copy the last 5 articles block code to a last 5 articles module  ? |
