I feel rather newbish about posting this but I have a feeling I am not the only one who has ran into troubles installing RN on their site. They are a pretty big company and as such use their own home made ACP instead of the tried and trusted Cpanel.
They have their hostname set up as db2xxx.perfora.net instead of localhost and the dbnames/usernames for the database are single words without using any _ seperations. While I don't think this matters I really don't know why I can't connect! I am getting this error:
Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
Thoughts!?! |

Single words for the database without any seperations shouldnīt be a problem also an other name instead of localhost
Not everybody is using Cpanel. Itīs possible you canīt connect because your database name is wrong. Btw: If you canīt find it out just ask your host like Palbin suggest. |

Everything is correct, however is it possible that exporting from one phpmyadmin to the other since the one i am importing to is of an older vers could cause descrepencies? How can I export the tables in a very basic way?
One thing I did notice is the phrasing for utf-8 is a bit different settings for each.... thoughts? |

I use 1 and 1 (although the UK 1 and 1 does seem a bit pricey compared to the US one)
Host names are db1234.oneandone.co.uk
DB name is db12345678
Username dbo12345678
Their support line usually has someone with english as a second language and it's sometimes a struggle. |

I got it up and running, however errordocuments module is kicking in any time I try browsing any of my site. Admin panel does let me log in and I did change the site url but no differences. I dont understand because errordocuments isnt even an active module...
hmmm....

If your logged in as an admin it will work for you not matter what.
What does the error documents page say? Also logout of admin and see what happens. |

Check to make sure your shortlinks are setup correctly in your htaccess as well as ShortLinks folder. |

No success, however I did notice if you type in the direct link they work fine:

I was following this thread to test my mod_rewrite to check to see it it was enabled but it did not work. Then I called my hosting company (1and1) and he told me to add this line to the top of my .htaccess file since they are currently running php 4.4.9
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php .php4
It didn't do anything unless I did something wrong. Thoughts? |

Adding that line will not enable mod_rewrite. You need to contact your host again. |

No beans I guess the mod_rewrite function is definately turned off. A downside of these large hosts who make up alot of rules for shared hosting. |

from the link palbin posted, as well as some other threads floating around on the internet, it looks as though 1and1 does support mod_rewrite... Do you still have this line @ the top of your htaccess ?
AddType x-mapp-php5 .php .php4
That type of change may take awhile to propagate on some hosts (hours). Enabling php5 won't enable mod_rewrite, but it's possible mod_rewrite is only available in their php5 setup.
If you just added and removed when it didn't work, try adding it again and leaving it there.. Then also try the
RewriteEngine on
