Ok we've discussed Eclipse, NetBeans, PHPIDE. Zen-Studio so on and ect...
Now lets open up a dialog about a fast lightweight IDE Geany.
Geany has a very light memory footprint and nice list of features and is available to you WinOz lovers too! I like it for fast edits better then a simple text editor because it shows all the classes, functions, defines, variables in the symbols pane at the left making quick edits a breeze to locate.
So I'm not out to give a full blown review here just to say I like it and use it. Maybe you do to?

Thank you for this "six". Been playing with it now for about 10 minutes and am already loving it. Very lightweight and has syntax highlighting for everything that I would want it to, including what I was missing with Eclipse for shell scripting. Nice find.
I may find myself using this more often. |

Have been using it for years, I simply love it, have play a while with other IDE's/advanced text editors but always come back to Geany... |

Now if only RabbitVCS worked properly on Ubuntu 10.04. I love the Nautilus integration but it's locked up Ubuntu a couple of times on me. Never used it before because I've always used the Subclipse integration with Eclipse, but was trying to see if I could get away from using it as its such a "thick" IDE. |

re: rabbitvcs
Looks like there were several a fixes committed yesterday for "segfaults, Memory usage very high" might be just what your looking for?
Let us know how it goes I really liked TortoiseSVN back in my WinOz days. |

I am not one to go off the latest-and-greatest via the latest committed. I prefer to use a good well-respective and active repository wherever possible as it reduces my maintenance headaches. But, I may have to make an exception this time around.
Thanks six. |
