PayPal are now blatently raping the worlds payments:

Thank you for contacting PayPal, my name is [insert agent name] and I am happy to assist you today.

I understand you were charged a fee in receiving money in your PayPal account.
Please be advised that PayPal had recently updated the policy on receiving and sending payments.

With the update, all payments regardless of account type will be charged the Standard rate in receiving payments of 2.4% + $0.30 AUD regardless of funding source if the sender did not select Personal as payment type.

In the Send Money process, senders would need to select the category whether Personal or Purchase as type of payment. If payment is sent as Personal; all fees are waived except if the funding source is a credit/ debit card; in which case the sender will have the option to be charged the receiving fee or to pass it on to the recipient.

Please keep in mind that if amount received is in Personal type of payment, you will not be eligible for Buyer/ Seller protection as it is meant for Person to Person transfer.

How do I change Nuke Treasury so that it does Personal payment types as donations so I don't lose money to these bastards?

I am not sure you'll find that to your advantage or not but it would be an interesting consideration. See the fee doesn't go away on personal it is still charged but it is now charged on the donator OR still charged on you (depending on the donators choice) Now as a donator how will you feel if you are going to donate $5 to someone and they ask you for extra money on top? Personally I would find that a little annoying and may cancel my donation or at least say no you can pay the fee. But that is me and my mind set. Maybe not everyones. How many donations will be lost for that practice vs Fees saved would make for interesting debate.

But to answer your question I am not sure as I wasn't aware the option existed.

I didn't see anywhere the option to incur the fee as a payer.

PayPal has gone insane with power.

Sorry actually you are right I misread that it is only if the payer uses a credit card are the fees still charged. That's not so bad then. I'll have to look into this myself.

I don't know for certain but as Paypal has personal or business accounts.
would this line
Code:
if( !$dbg && strcasecmp( $_POST['business'], $tr_config['receiver_email']) != 0)

in ipnppd.php have anything to do with it?

But please check with someone who would know. I just used logic.

You really need to post this question in the Paypal Developer forums for a definitive answer.

One thing I would also be concerned about and looked into is if paypal would consider donations to a website for whatever means as "not personal" and thereby if they did consider it as that would they then consider you as in violation of terms and penalize you?

Duck is right in this case.
Paypal not offer a payment button as "personal", so there's nothing to generate a button for it.
Only when the payer choose for it.
But you can setup a "donation" account what uses lesser fee's
It is also not fair to say paypal company are bastards , as they offer you a service , you are free to use or not.
If think different of it ... simply put your IBAN on your site and ask if they donate manualy.(you would getting screwed then much more by your own bank)

pan,

If you ever had a merchant account outside of Paypal you'd be glad to craw back. Paypal doesn't charge for all the chargeback fees etc...
