I used to have the download description in the main page of the download so that the member didn't have to click the download to read what it was about as the description was shown in the list. They just had to click through to download it.

Due to the dual column nature of the downloads list in NSN GR Downloads, it would not be practical to show the descriptions, especially with ones with long descriptions. But, you could try to add this yourself within the script modules/Downloads/public/index.php, but you would want to substr out only a fixed amount of characters from your description. Just keep in mind that it will be very difficult to get your "boxes" to expand to fit a consistent sizing.
