Hello,

I seek assistance in figuring out the root cause of the error I get when using the image uploader for the FCKEditor. This is what happens and what I do:

I click on the image button on the editor and the pop-up box comes up. I click on "Browse" and get the following error:

ERROR: 403 - Forbidden

Hint: The server understood the request, but is refusing to fulfill it
Authorization will not help and you SHOULD NOT repeat the request as you may be banned

Agent : Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.0.3) Gecko/2008092417 Firefox/3.0.3
Redirect Status : 403

I have done the following:
Looked at NS for possible block of IP address.
Checked my own user for any discrepancy of being disabled or suspended.
Had another Admin user attempt the same thing from another IP address and gets the same error.
Looked over the error logs for any hints or leads.
Looked at the code for the file stated on the referer and the requested file.
Checked the .htaccess files.

I dont know where else to look for or what is causing this problem. It was working just fine yesterday and today I get this. I still have access to everything else on the website. Anyone know might might be causing this or what i can do?

Thanks

Well, if it worked yesterday and it does not today, then something has changed. Are you the only one who can add/modify files on your account? It might be a .htaccess file that you uploaded with a "deny from all" line in it. Is it also possible that you changed a setting on your control panel (web account control panel, like cPanel) related to image handling?

These are the only things that I can think of at the moment.

Yes I'm the admin/owner of the website and have access to the cpanel. I re-checked the .htaccess file just now and the only section that has the "deny from all" is the access to the file .staccess. And that i'm aware of, i have not changed any settings in the cPanel not even related to image handling nor have changed anything with the MIME-types. And I agree with you, something must have changed for this to happen. But I still dont know what caused it or what exactly changed. Thanks for the input, I will review the setting I have on cPanel to see if something has changed.

If you did not change anything, you might want to check with your host to see if anything changed there.

I do know that my host recently updated the cpanel to a new theme, but I really doubt that adding a new theme to the cpanel could make a 403 error on a website. Do you think otherwise? Confused

I agree that a cpanel theme shouldn't impact your site. But it's possible that other changes were also made that could impact your site.
