Who would like to see PHPNUKE go into a new direction where you don't use crappy modules, addons?

You get the best modules that are really usefull for your site, not basic ones FB puts out, there are people in the community who Enhanced modules that are 10 times better than stock ones. Why not use them?

The themes for nuke are basic ugly and many people make better themes out there why not use them?

Don't you think you should have the best site software coming out of the box?

The security of phpnuke needs to be addressed and why has fb ignored it?
Raven script works great.

If you would be interested in a community nuke let me know.

I would never use a generic theme anyway, I would always make my own. So that wouldn't worry me. Its the same with any forum software, you always get a basic template, if you want a better template, you make one to suit, or download one. Cant please everyone when it comes to looks, so best to just make a clean looking simple template, if you did try to please everyone, you would end up with a bloated download, packed out with tacky themes. 1st thing I did when I installed nuke, was delete every single theme.

Its no good adding a load of modules that most people wont use. They have made it nice and simple to add your own, I think its good how it is.

I think they have addressed a lot of the security issues in 7.3 using chatservs patches.

The biggest disappointment for me is having 2 profiles for users, I think this is quite confusing for people, telling people they have to use their forum profile to update their avatars correctly.

Ravens going to be updating the package here in the near future are you volunteering to help with that? If so drop him a pm when he gets back.

I don't think anyone here's looking for yet another custom distribution its hard enough to keep current with all the updates as it is. As far as I know NC is still maintaining one there too. In fact most of the regional sites maintain a custom distribution now days.

Since I got behind on the 7.2 customized distro, I will use the 7.3 as my base and will be working on it when I get back. I am considering stripping it down to a basic download and then a supplemental/add-on pack (or packs). I hesitated to mention this because as sure as I publish things these days they seem to pop up elsewhere under copyrights and TMs and such. /me slaps me! Probably just my imagination again Laughing

That direction already exists and is called CPG-Nuke.
Be aware that almost every day new material and improvements is made.

I'v seen CPGnuke and tried it out you have some good things in it but i like several other scripts made by NSN, Nukestyles and a few others. They dont all work with cpgnuke.

I think Six's comment above is most appropriate here. Most of the regional sites maintain a customized distro of some kind. I am not in competition with anyone for any reason. If you like mine - great! If not, find the one that suits you best. We try to pride ourselves here on great support and releases that are right the first time Wink And when we grow our own software, it is just that - home grown. It doesn't mean that we had the idea first (although we may have), but our code is our's or it is noted otherwise.
