From testing I take it the word censor within php-nuke does not translate over to the forums?

Is there an easy way to add a list of words or do I type it all in manually?

thanks

In the forum admin area is General Admin under that is Word Censor. There you can add all the words you want and what you want to display when someone types in a censored word. Quite fun actually!
