A regular user to my site has reported seeing at the bottom of his screen
on our homepage, a link with this in it:
"whos amung us / swidget / ****.gif"
It's some type of visitor tracking widget. I don't have anything like this
installed on the site. Could this be something in his browser? |

Maybe, or it could be something a free host adds. Have you sought independent verification by asking others to check this on your site? |

I use it at my website for some time now
Pretty handy and fun nifty thing.
I know they distribute a Firefox add-on as well, perhaps he is using that? |

Yeah, I didn't see it in any of my source code either. I'll check with some
other users as well. |

warren-the-ape, hhhmmmm.... that IS pretty cool. I hadn't seen this before. I wonder if it could be integrated somehow into Raven's WhoIsWhere block. I like some of the additional features. |

Yep, think so too
On my site I just included it into the footer(s) of my theme(s), didnt saw another quick solution
The only problem would be, that all the stuff is hosted on another server and around half a year ago the little image was down quite some times. It feels and looks more stable since a couple of months now. I dont think everyone wants to be dependant of other servers/hosters?
I wanted to use it cause it shows how much people are online at any given moment (time of refresh), instead of the standard *nuke list which is updated i dunno every half hour or so?
I just use it as a little add-on, nothing more nothing less. |

Raven's WhoIsWhere block is in an iframe, so at least that wouldn't stop the rest of the site to load. However, point well taken. |

do a nice widget though it doesn't show the number of people online in real-time but the stats generation is really nice.
Here's the stats page for my little blog;

I use the Who Amung Us widget too, but I alter it to just 2px x 2px.
Now it just looks like a 'bolded' period after "Ravennuke TEAM' in my footer. |
