Hey kids,

I have an easy one... maybe. Wink

I'm using PHP Nuke 7.1.

I set my nuke to display 20 news stories on the home page, but the old stories block is still picking up at 10 stories.

Any ideas?

Peace,

Dan

Hey,

No, I mean I did that already... and the Old Stories block didn't change. The first ten stories on the block are exactly the same as the bottom half of my home page... the overlap.

I tried resetting the blobk by deactivating it and then reactivating it but it came back the same way.

Quote:
Stories Number in Home: 20

Stories in Old Articles Box: 30

So... home should show 20, Old Articles should pick up at 21 and show 30 past stories... right?

Thanks,

Dan

Any ideas why the preferences change wouldn't update the block?

Thanks,

Dan

Try this

Number of Items in Top Page: 20
Stories Number in Home: 20
Stories in Old Articles Box: 30

If that isn't working I don't know. Just for grins and giggles you might try flushing your cache and deleting your cookies. That never hurts anyway.

Okay, now it's getting weird.

I deleted my cookies and temp internet files and pulled up my page and it looked great. The Old Articles block only listed from story 21 on.

I was thrilled... then I logged into my account.

Rolling Eyes

All the stories are back. Question

How could that be, and could it be only me?

Peace!

It isn't just me... but it is only when a user is logged on.

When a user is not logged in the Old Articles block starts at 21, when logged in it starts at 11.

Any ideas as to why?

Thanks,

Dan

my nuke that was 7.1 that i upgraded has flipped out too. i try to set only 5 articles on the home page, and 10 in the old box, and it does not respond! Also none of my scrolling blocks work, and all kinds of funky stuff is going down :S

But my other nuke site which started at nuke 6.5, and upgraded all the way to 7.1 has no problems. Question

I dont get it. I dont want to reset my site AGAIN.

I had commented out the Your Home option in Your Account so people couldn't change the story number or home page. Unfortunately, That's where I need to change my logged in story number. Apparently the default for a logged in user is ten and I want twenty.

Now, this is the setting for $storyhome, and the only thing I can fine is this...

Code:
if ($user_news == 1) {
   echo "<b>"._NEWSINHOME."</b> "._MAX127." "
       ."<input type=\"text\" name=\"storynum\" size=\"4\" maxlength=\"3\" value=\"$userinfo[storynum]\">"
       ."<br><br>";
    } else {
   echo "<input type=\"hidden\" name=\"storynum\" value=\"$storyhome\">";
    }

What I can't figure out is where the registered user default of ten is set at.

I searched my files and found that $storyhome appears in the mainfile.php, and I thought I had hit the jackpot but I didn't really find anything.

Any ideas?

Peace!

Dan

It is set in the nuke_users table schema:
storynum tinyint(4) NOT NULL default '10'
