I have searched the internet for a while now and have not found a cure for this problem. Let's get a clear cut fix posted here.

I just restarted my site and have received 16 members so far. now no one else can register. everyone gets this error during register process- ERROR- INVALID NICKNAME. I even tried it and got the same error.

What i have done so far to try to correct-
uploaded fresh mainfile.php and header.php files
uploaded fresh index.php file for MY_ACCOUNT module
played around with line in index.php file that checks for invalid characters in name.

phpnuke ver- 7.0
stock my_account module

Outlaw, you have a post already (yes it's locked). You have sent me 2 PM's. That's enough! I will get to it as soon as i can. I have been trying to help you and you are very impatient. Look how long it took you to send me the info I requested. In any event, do not post this again.

I have installed nsn_my_account for nuke ver 7.0 in hopes that it would solve my problem. It did not.
This is what i believe is happening-
I think the module is reading the user's ip as the username, so that is why it is always coming up "invalid name".

I'll be looking at this shortly. Don't be alarmed if your site starts acting up a little Wink

I have spent several hours on this and I'm puzzled. I see what's happening but it makes no sense. I'm beginning to think you may have a PHP configuration issue. Ask your Host if they have recently changed anything in php.ini. The other possibility is that you have made some kind of a change, probably an addon, that is stepping on the variables that Your_Account is using.

i think you are right about some addon messing up the my_account module.
I have another nuke site that i use for testing blocks and such and right now registration on that site is fine. but I reloaded both sites last monday because registration was messed up on both of them.
So I believ the problem is coming from a block or addon that i have installed my main site but not on the test 1. luckly since monday i have not installed to many addons so I may reload the site 1 more time and after each addon is installed i will check registration and hopefully find out what addon is causing the problem.
In any case, thanx you for your efforts in this matter Raven!

I FOUND IT!

I was looking thru to see what addons i had on main site that i did not have on testsite. i then started adding the extra ones that were on main site to the testsite, chacking registration after each install.

I have an addon on the main site called HITLIST. Right after i installed this addon to the testsite i could no longer register a new name!!!!!!!
