my message module keeps deactiviting by its self for some reason...it also appears to be changes in some of the html coding when i insert images and they dont display - i get \\\ in the coding syntax....any thoughts on how i can resolve this?

Messages may be set to expire. There really is not a "message module" per se. As the admin, you control whether the message will expire or not when you set up the message.
Regarding the images, I suspect it might be patch related. If you are using 3.2, some of the patched code can be a bit "over aggressive".
If this is a new site, I too, would recommend RavenNuke.
