I'm about to upgrade my RavenNuke. I've got no idea which version of RavenNuke it is, but I suspect it's a pretty old one, perhaps the first. If anyone can tell me how to check the version, I'd be intersted. I checked the nuke_config in phpmyadmin and it didn't say.

Anyway, the last time I did an upgrade I basicaly used phpmyadmin to export bits of the database like news and downloads and then I imported them into the newly installed database from the RavenNuke install. Some of them didn't work and I suspect this was because the tables had been changed or whatever. Because of this, I didn't bother importing them. I know you're probably all shaking in your heads in disbelief now. Would this have made my RavenNuke insecure? I dunno, but some of them did work.

In case you didn't pick up the two questions in my rambling.

1. How do you check what version of RavenNuke you're using?
2. Is importing old exported bits of your database like the news and downloads an OK solution for upgrading without losing your stuff?

Upgrading news and downloads is fine and shouldn't affect security at all.

We've talked about displaying the version in RN, and I tried to find it, but I couldn't. At one time, it was stored in the configuration table, and caused some issues with applications that looked for specific addons.

Do you have the zip file that your originally downloaded? If so you could do a comparison between that and the files currently in the download section for full versions and see which one it is. If not try comparing files in the installation directory.

If you want to reduce headaches in the future you really need to compare the table structures between the version of Ravennuke you are using or trying to use and what you currently have and adjust what you have to match exactly. How to do that is covered in a number of places here in the Forums.

If you check the different config.php s, the forums version and the nukesentinel version I believe you are able to find out more.
