One entire rack of servers (14 in all) at the Data Center (DC) in Atlanta was affected. The entire rack had gone dead. The term they used with me was "the fiber had gone dark" and they didn't know why. They replaced the main router twice, all the fiber and all the switches and did many other things and had been working on it since around noon, EST. They had the 2 owners of the DC on site and no expense was being spared as far as technicians and equipment replacement. Finally, they started back over and brought in a third main router. That solved the problem! It was the main router all the time, apparently, but the first 2 backup routers that they tried were not functioning correctly, which of course they didn't know, and so they assumed that wasn't the problem and went on to try all the other possibilities.
We apologize for the service interruption and we can tell you that this is the first time in our 3 year history that anything like this has happened. Hopefully it will be the last!
