Hey Guys,
Did you notice how slowly is loading twitter on your site as a block?
My idea was to call the javascript from my site but now it is useless anyway. it keeps loading and loading and then it comes. I do know Twitter became huge and powerful you can use on internet and on your phone but why they dont host the whole script from twitter on a better host. I had to disable twitter yesterday. It doesnt help so much. Any suggestion about it?
Is there any way to improve this issue?

I am working on a more robust Twitter block (but had to take down my Beta just recently - see my News). It will cache the twitter time-line in the block and then use jQuery enabled code to overwrite with updated timeline info. If the JS fails to return, you'll still have what was cached. You will be able to set the cache to whatever you want, so you could do 5 minutes or an hour if you like.
My intent was to get away from their widget as it is not SE friendly. I want the SE's to at least pick up my cached block content and then the on-line real-time users with JS enabled and Twitter "cooperating", get real-time updates. |

Excellent idea Montego. I am really dissapointed with twitter.com. The first time I start running twitter block didn't show when page loaded so I start calling blogger.js from my own site. This trick helped me a lot but now it is getting irritant since is trying to load twitter from twitter.com but if twitter is slowly and talkinf so much time. Your idea to cache the twitter time line will be fantastic. Thanks Montego for being interested in this issue. It is the only wait to improve our site's speed. |

Yeah, just sorry that I can't get back to it for at least another week. But the plan is to get back to working on it after the 21st. |
