I am getting this error [cURL error 6: name lookup timed out ] on my site in the block that is pulling the RSS feed from my classifieds directory.

This was working fine before. The only thing that has changed that I know of is that my host updated the php ver. on the servers. This update affected my FCKeditor so I can only think that this is affecting my RSS feeds as well.

So, can anyone think of a php setting that I can tell my host to look for that the RN csm needs to display RSS feeds?

Thanks

That issue is caused by the server taking too long to pull the information in. I'm not sure if it is the host server or the feed server. I guess it could be either. Somewhere in nukePIE is a curl timeout setting. I think it is in includes/SimplePie/simplepie.inc around line 430 you should see something like this
Code:
/**
    * @var int Timeout for fetching remote files
    * @see SimplePie::set_timeout()
    * @access private
    */
   var $timeout = 10;

Try adjusting the 10 to a higher timeout limit to see if it fixes the issue.

Thanks Nuken,

I will look into it after my host gets back to me. The server is going in and out today so they may be tweaking some more settings. They probably hate me right now. I have been making them work for their money the last few days. Wink Got to have a working site or I’m just paying them for nothing Rolling Eyes They have been good to me so I'm not going to give up on them yet Very Happy

I tested this and set the value to 20 and my RSS feed showed as it should.

When I set the value back to 10 for the time out. My site was still showing the RSS feeds with no problems. Then I went over to my testsite directory and did the same to it.

Again, everything started working like it should with it set back to 10. Plus, my site seems to be running much faster. So... could it be a case that for what ever reason after the host upgraded the php ver. the script was hanging up and needed to be edited and saved again to refresh it?

I don't know I'm going crazy here Shocked I hope my host tells me they found something because what I just babled just now dosent make sence to me Confused

My guess would be the issue was probably related to a server issue. It was just timing out for whatever reason.
