I am currently hard at work updating the Emporium Shopping Cart module that was abandon back around 2004 by Burn Wave. It's a very nice cart with tons of features.
Many new features to come! |

Pleasantly, if it has more features than CCart, is easier to maintain, secure, etc. |

My two cents is that the focus on "features" is misplaced. Better to get something simple working that is reliable and secure. When you have a good working foundation then add features in subsequent releases. Think through the database design and related programming. If you are going to have categories and sub-categories and items to sell then don't let them delete a category that has items attached ... just for instance. And every form item needs to be validated as specifically as possible by the "receiving" program. Database fields that are going to store numeric data should be numeric and of an appropriate size -- not varchar(xxx). Things like that.
A shopping cart module that really worked would be a great contribution to the community. |

I'm not downplaying the importance of things working, but it's also easy to get obsessed with (i.e. to overrate the importance of) certain features that may not be important to a majority of users, resulting in significant delays. Something that works well today is much more valuable that something that works perfectly for everyone in two years (if that's even possible). As a former CIO once put it: do not let perfection become the enemy of good. |

Emporium has alot of features but not over kill. I will lay out the details soon.
fkelly: It already has the feature were if a category has products you can't delete the category until the products are deleted.
I have get the demo up soon... |

Will this be built for out-of-the-box compatibility with RavenNuke(tm)? |

Raven and all, I am willing to do testing of any modules that needs to work on RN 2.4. I have a site that I use strictly for that purpose. Just pm or email me and provide a download link. |
