I have a feeling that is really a function of the theme.php article functions. If the admin is the one writing the article (as apposed to just posting it), it could be that the author is not displayed. I.e., the author is the same as the poster.

If you post as an admin it will not be a user. Could this possibly be the problem? I remember an issue a while ago were if you were an admin it it would direct you to RNYA and of course there was no user so we made it so that there was no link. (I think.)
