I recently tried setting up a site to be used as a backup incase the main server went down, which it seems to do frequently. This site (4Gb diskspace/12Gb mthly bandw.) is being hosted for free so I don't just want to move it. Anyway, I set up the site (RN2.10 of course) and as I don't know what I am doing, added the alternate nameservers after the main nameservers in that domains cp. Then I tried to set up a mysql db but couldn't - I guess because the domain needs to be resolved to that server first?. Then I tried to access the main site using the shortcut on my desktop 'http:/ /ww w.mysite.com'. I began getting the mysql error immediately and the username that it said was being denied access was the one I was going to use on the mirror site. However, when I used 'http:/ /mysite.com' (no www) I was sent to the original site and all worked fine. Assuming the alternate nameservers were causing the problem, I deleted them and now only the original nameservers show for that domain. Waiting a length of time for the changes to propigate and verifying it at dnsstuff.com, I tried accessing the site with www again -- same issue. I then deleted all temp internet files/cookies etc and tried again, still same problem.
Now here is the oddest part, other users CAN get on the site with or without the

Somehow this domain with the www is still hanging onto the mirror hosting account I set up. When I deleted the mirror hosting account and all its files, certain items (pics for instance) in the page that reference

I get the generic "Great Success !

Any ideas?

and clanfga.com resolve to the same server - 208.53.138.55
I'm not sure what you're trying to do exactly. I'm thinking depending on what domain controls you have, you should be able to change your own name records for a subdomain to point to a different host.
Problem solved. NOW, they do resolve to the same server. Last night they did for people in the midwestern US but not for me on the west coast US. I guess not all servers had the new info yet. Weird.
All is well now, though.
I guess I will have to just change the nameservers if/when the main server goes down.
Sorry for posting the URL's I keep forgetting we have all countries except US and Canada blocked. I forget that while clanfga is a regional community, raven's is not. It must be frustrating to see a post here asking for help only to click on the link to get blocked.
