I need to update my IP2Country installation. I'm currently running whatever came with my RN76 2.02.02. Someone has contacted me saying they cannot get on the site they're getting blocked IP message. They are using SBCglobal for an ISP.

The problem is there are four files listed on NSN all dated 12/22/06 ... which one(s) am I to d/l so that I can get that IP2Country files/tables updated?

Do I use my original installSQL.php file to install it?

Thanks.

well these things go together with whatever sentinel version you have...
so check what sentinel version you have, then download the sentinel to upgrade it,that pack comes with the current ip2country as well.

Hi,
one stupid question from me: If I do that update, do I have to select each country file one by one? Is there a way to do that update more easy?

All in One Import, that's what I am looking for.
But it shows 'Added on: Jul 27 2006, 10:49:18 EDT', and I did the last updates, except the newest one' and now I think it will be a downgrade for me?

I did the last couple of update using the function within sentinel, it costs a lot of time if you do it for 4 pages Sad.
Would be helpfull to have a big sql file that can be imported using phpMyAdmin import function (the one from a server directory), is that possible?
The single sql update files are not helpfull using phpMyAdmin because that is more work to do than using the sentinel function.

Ok,
it was a stupid question I had Smile.
Just started the import out of the new release of sentinel and I can not believe what I see: It is doing the import of all countries step by step without any problems!
Thank you for that nice feature ! (I shoud read the release notes next time, I am sure it was mentioned there Smile)

I find it easer to download all the data in SQL format, truncate the table then do a cat *.sql > all.dump to get one big sql file then use that with phpmyadmin to rebuild the table.

In dos a type *.sql > all.dump should do the same trick.

Load the files to the import directory, and then go to the Import Data in Nuke Sentinel to load them

The file I was advised to d/l was a .data file, there is only that one, I have no idea what to do with this .data file, I see no .sql files, etc ... just one .data file.

There should be one .data file for each country. Upload all of them to the import folder using FTP

There is just one .data file period, from the d/l url listed above on this page. Not sure why you keep refering to "all of them" because there is only one file. I don't know what to do with it *still* LOL

benson your post with link puts me right back to the top of this post ... which of the four d/l should I do? I'm sure they aren't all needed. There's four of them listed there, I have no idea which one to use with my NS, as I stated at the start of this post!?

ok,
use new newest one (IP2Country 2006-12-29) and copy it to root/import on your nuke root installation. The Import function will import it into your data base and you are fine.

The link from hitwalker was (I think) for me, because I was searching for 'a one single file' I could use for updating, but now it is obsolete.

Guys, there are FOUR files on NSN to d/l and all FOUR are dated 12/29/06 ... which ONE do I d/l? Or do I d/l all four or what? That is the question. After I know which one to d/l then I need to know exactly what I'm suppose to do with it.

Also, I don't see any .data files in my NS, I see .sql, etc, in the original file so these .data files are completely confusing me. If you read my original posts you will see that people from sbcglobal are being blocked from visiting my site, supposedly because IP2Country is not up to date. I've posted what version of NS I'm on, I need to know which of the four files dated 12/29/06 I need to d/l, or do I need all four?

Then how do I install those so I can get NS IP2Country updated!?

Hi,

as I said, download IP2Country 2006-12-29 (there is only one file with that name!), extract all .data files it into /import directory and start the import out of sentinel (don't ask me how the menu item is called in english, I use a german translation). I am sure you will find it ...

Thanks, I've d/l the 12/29/06 file as you specified. Now I am uploading the import folder to the root folder as directed.

But do I use NS IP2Country Import feature to import each country? This is my first time doing this. Or, do I use the Installation install page again to install or what?

Also, what does this mean and how exactly do I do this ... ?

"The "IANA Reserved" is just that, IP Ranges that have been found to not be assigned to a country. The "Unknown" is a pair of entries that are equal to 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.255.255 and 127.0.0.0 to 127.255.255.255. On a live site you should edit these to "IANA Reserved" for proper blocking of those ranges. They are listed as "Unknown" for testing on local servers so you are not blocked from your test server Smile"

I'm assuming that on my live site I have to make those changes but I'm really not sure where or how!?

Thanks again! Sorry, squeaky new to this : o/

OK I've figured it out for importing, I'm doing it directly through Admin for NS and clicking each country (oddly I don't have to click the Import Data button, clicking each country is apparently doing the import). That aside, I'm importing to IP2Country BUT ... do I also need to do the same thing for Blocked IPs for IP2Country?
