proble with Forums in rwzRaven Nuke76 _v2.02.2_full

I installed this package Saturday and ever since I get this error. Have looked all over forums and still unable to find the solution. Any hepl is appreciated.

Well, looks to me like you upgraded from a previous nuke installation and not a fresh install of RavenNuke76. What version of Nuke was this originally and what version of the forums?

I had upgraded from PhP Nuke Version 7.5, Forum version ????, I forgot (poop!) But it was prepackaged with 7.5.

Ok, as expected. Had you upgraded your 7.5 database to 7.6 first? What was the process you went through to get from 7.5 to RavenNuke76 2.02.02? These steps will be important to figure out if you have more potential issues lurking in the background.

Yes, I ran the upgrade script from 75 -76 first and got the message that it was succesful. Than I did as the instruction in the Raven prepackage version suggested. However, I didn't run the "step 1"(core files) of the install database, as I didn't want to lose all my data, But I did run Step 2,3 &4. Except for the forum ( and Memberl list) all is OK. I really don't want to drop the entire DB, but if I have too I will and start fresh. Members won't be happy, but I can live with that.

Thanks Evaders99 for the suggestion. I did try the upgrade patch but, it didn't work.

In Addition, my website has been attacked again from some very "shameful people". So has a result I decide to do a fresh install and start from scratch.

This download was referenced in the 2.02.02 "Post Fixes" forum... You really are just a few table changes away from success here. Don't give up so quickly.

I have just done an upgrade from standard nuke 7.5 to RN 2.02.02
Here is the method I used.
I created a copy of the original DB so I had the original as a back-up.
I upgraded the forums using the forum upgrade files - upgrade17-18.php onwards.
I used the nuke upgrade file to upgrade from 7.5 to 7.6

Then I ran in phpmyadmin the sql file - rn76_nsngroups.sql to add the groups tables.
Then the rn76_sentinel.sql to add the Sentinel tables
Then I ran the INSTALLATION/installSQL.php selecting ONLY the IPtoCOUNTRY data install.

I guess that will be me then but only after I've completed my current work load AND I will only look at core nuke upgrades/downgrades. I'm not interested in working on upgrading/downgrading the likes of Platinum, pcNuke, Nuke Evolution etc etc.

lol. why didn't i come across this thread before i tried to upgrade?

i upgraded a 7.5 site to rn by running all sql upgrades except the core db. everything is fine, except the site is stuck in one theme.

not sure what to do next. any ideas?

Assuming you have more than one theme installed you would need to compare the table structure from the old DB gainst the Raven Nuke one.

it's okay now. i uploaded a backed up 7.5 db. i tried to upgrade it to 7.6, but couldn't understand some of the stuff i was getting. lol. i uploaded a 7.5 config.php, cleaned my cookies and everything is okay now.

despite uploading a 7.5 db, it appears it has retained the extra tables from the rn install. weird, but i'm content that i won't have to take the whole thing down and ftp 7.5 to upgrade to 7.6 to upgrade to rn.

next step i have to do is to replace the config.sys from 7.5 with one from rn incase something else happens.

Some of the tables have aditioanl fields to support the built in nsn groups module, that might be where yur problem lie but if you had any errors reporting when

i did not install the core tables, but i installed the nsn group tables and the nukesentinel tables.

what i didn't understand was "You must set a value for admin_file in config.php" - which was already set in the rn config.php that was there when i ran the script first. when i uploaded the config.php file for 7.5 (which does not have the line), it said the same thing.

the site seems to be running okay with a 7.5 db, but i will likely post if there are any other issues that might need addressed.

if anybody know the differences between the 7.5 and 7.6 tables, maybe they could draw my attention to them.

That is precisely why you need to compare the two database structures.
You may have third party modules that have altered the core nuke tables and there may also be differences in the forum tables depending on which version you were using before installing Raven Nuke.

There are so many variables it's not possible to 'guess' but I'm sure you let us know if you encounter any problems Smile

A quick way to compare DB table structures is to export the tables without data to a text file, then use a file comparison tool to identify the differences. There are some tools that claim to compare databases, but I haven't found a good one yet. Hopefully, it's because I haven't looked hard enough.

kguske, have you tried "MySQL Diff"? I used it recently to compare 2.02.02 to 2.10.00 and came up with the same differences that fkelly did with his more manual comparison approach.
