I'm coming to Raven nuke with this request rather than to other CMS's. I'm not sure if the Raven Nuke staff is aware of the other non-phpNuke based CMS apps out there. But Germany has quite the PC Clan scene as well as France. They work with non phpNuke structures like

which is a custom built cms and not based on phpnuke, is very interesting. There are definitely great ideas but still unsure about security and flexibility.

Anyway, the only thing that's of interest with nukedClan is that all the homepages have inserts of 3 or more horizontal blocks multiple times on the hompage of various widths, especially just under the header. And each column's width are different both globally and in specific regions.

Examples:

Now I know that its possible to manually change the width of the left, middle and right blocks for Raven Nuke and Evo-Extreme. But that would be a permanent change in the files, not something you could simply do from the Admin panel.

Even Platinum Nuke 76v5.0.1 has a mix of horizontal blocks with-in the Middle column of blocks, on their homepage.

scroll down to when you get to the arcade. It gives the effect that there are 4 columns of blocks instead of the standard lef, middle, right.

So I thought that Raven Nuke and Evo-Extreme would be even more awesome if it could have a module giving you the ability with-in the Admin Panel to add more than left, middle and right columns on the homepage and choose the widths of each column. Also the ability to add horizontal blocks with in a column and choosing there individual widths; by % or pixels.

If Raven nuke had a module like this, I don't think anyone in Europe would care about Nuked Klan. I also think it would add much more flexibility to Raven Nuke since you could greatly effect the visual look of your homepage even if your knowledge of HTML, XHTML, PHP or CSS was very low.

I hope someone will consider looking into this as a possibility, having this ability with in the Admin Panel would be amazing instead of each individual user trying to edit their CSS/PHP/XHTML files every single time they wanted to edit their homepage in such a manner.

Thanks for your time.

Do they actually have a templating system that allows you to do that? Or are those just how the themes are put together?

I ask because the first tow German sites look highly customized. By that I mean the individual block elements.

I do know that they run on a cms, with their own modules. However they may or may not be theme specific.

I suppose a more cleaner description of what I hope could be possible is having a module that allows you to use the Admin Panel to add more than just the left, middle and right columns to Raven Nuke or Evo-Extreme and adjusting the individual widths of each Column. Instead of having to manually make the right adjustments in any necessary files CSS/XHTML/PHP for any changes you wanted to make.

This way such changes wouldn't be "template dependent" and any theme made by a user or Commercial site could make use of the ability.

We want to throw out and/or radically redesign the *nuke* themeing system/methodology and have discussed it now for several years. It is one of our priority items as we design the scope for RN v2.5 or whatever we decide to name it Wink

I agree with you in theory and I understand exactly what you are desiring (I actually have a prototype that I was working on several month's ago). Redesigning the themeing will be a laborious undertaking as we will have to rip the guts out of RavenNuke(tm). What you have proposed is very doable and hopefully we can get there. Using jQuery would simplify the design quite alot. In fact, while I'm typing this, I have a design model in my head! After we get the RN v2.40.01 release published (hopefully today) I'll try to find the prototype that I was working on several month's ago.

infact it is nsn centerblocks.
On the platinum site i suspect: Top Scorers Random Game New Games, is 1 block.

NSN Center Blocks 71-77
Features Include:
· eregi's converted to stristr's where possible.
· It requires PHP-Nuke 7.1-7.7 + Patched 2.9+ be installed.
· This addon allows you to have 4 center blocks at the top
and 4 center blocks at the bottom of your page. You can
set height and width values for the overall size. Allows
admins to enter their own content or use a blockfile.
· Includes the trademark NSN Install/Destall/Upgrade script
for handling the database changes.

@ Raven: wow thats great news. jQuery is definitely a huge plus.

Reading this has definitely made me exited for RavenNuke's future. I know that just cause I made this post doesn't mean the functions I want are super important or something, and in the end I would prefer that you take the path you believe is the best for RavenNuke. But to know that you and your team are pursuing a more Dynamic RavenNuke, well thats pretty sweet. The after effect of this will most likely make it easier for people to reach a higher level of design and managing demands that are starting to become common place.

And if you do have a functioning prototype I would be stoked to see it or try it.

@ wHiTeHaT:
Hey thanks, that actually helps a lot. Mostly for having 4 smaller blocks at the top but underneath the header. However it doesn't provide everything that I was hoping for. Still though, I will check it out, see if there's way to get it working for Raven Nuke.
