Wow.. been looking for the answer to this problem for days now.
Who would have thought that:
cookie domain: (blank)
cookie name: (blank)
cookie path : /
works!! *facepalm* |

I have a single user (as of right now) having this problem... i dont wanna change the cookie settings just yet, as no one else is having the problem, however i did notice one strange thing happening - in sentinel user tracking here's what i see for that user:
/modules.php?name=Private_Messages...<some stuff>...&attach_sig=on&folder=inbox&mode=post&sid=aa36b93cac50e169f150e607988246a7&post=Submit
/modules.php?name=Private_Messages...<some stuff>...&attach_sig=on&folder=inbox&mode=post&sid=f497ee804f3f672f78e36abb27f8251e&post=Submit
/modules.php?name=Forums&subject=&addbbcode18=&addbbcode20=12&helpbox=Tip: Styles can be applied quickly to selected text.&message...<some stuff>...&attach_sig=on&add_attachment_body=0&posted_attachments_body=0&mode=reply&sid=4be9ff06bffb66dbeefe75ef9ea533c0&t=2359&post=Submit
/modules.php?name=Forums&subject=&addbbcode18=&addbbcode20=12&helpbox=Tip: Styles can be applied quickly to selected text.&message...<some stuff>...&attach_sig=on&add_attachment_body=0&posted_attachments_body=0&mode=reply&sid=0c8221e82789a756fee09d6e608d0c0c&t=2359&post=Submit
/modules.php?name=Forums&subject=&addbbcode18=&addbbcode20=12&helpbox=Tip: Styles can be applied quickly to selected text.&message...<some stuff>...&attach_sig=on&add_attachment_body=0&posted_attachments_body=0&mode=reply&sid=974d6ef1b781e019acfef75fbfc6a553&t=2359&preview=Preview
/modules.php?name=Forums&subject=&addbbcode18=&addbbcode20=12&helpbox=Tip: Styles can be applied quickly to selected text.&message...<some stuff>...&attach_sig=on&add_attachment_body=0&posted_attachments_body=0&mode=reply&sid=2e3a66da956143818bb5141403a8393d&t=2359&post=Submit
Now i looked at another user, and the thing was that all his session ids were The Same - which i think is what should be happening - right??
Why would his session id keep constantly changing? what does that mean? |

Pretty sure it means the cookies are not working, thus it is assigning a new sid as a new user |

strange, because no other use is experiencing this problem and the cookies setup is exactly as various posts (including this thread) recommend.
Could something be modifying the cookies in transit?
Even if no one has an answer here, could you provide some direction for me to troubleshoot? i'm not sure how to move forward to fix this issue so any help is appreciated.
Thanks. |

Since it is only one person, that does seem to point to this individual's PC having either cookies turned off, or possibly a cookie blocker installed. No other ideas that I can think of ATM. |

There is no directory. You might want to Google for an explanation of cookies.
See this FAQ also for a possible solution: |

Thank God, the blank domain with works with my install on my localhost and was quite frustrating since I write mods which require me to test locally before I upload them to my www Web server.
I could not post anything only preview, all users that I created for my local host work now as well as anonymous with Firefox, perhaps I should also use Safari and Opera to check but I believe that if you are running Raven nuke locally you should leave the domain blank, possibly you can set the cookie name to anything, it might not allow sessions with 127.0.0.1, I don't know for sure.
Now I can write and check locally before doing anything on the WEB with NukeRaven, I am as happy as can be! below is a pic of my local site:
It works great for me hope it does you also, let me know how this works locally for you also. |

Thanks for sharing this! BTW, I copied an image locally to avoid linking to your site directly. |

With so many possible solutions found on this thread alone... What was the final verdict? What seems to be the correct fix for this problem? Is it the settings as houdini1953 posted in the image above?
@Palbin - What did you use as the fix? |

Disabled
