There is a module, not sure if it works with RavenNuke, I'll spend an hour testing if it does, but it would be really nice if Raven Nuke supported Forum News rather than the default News for PHPNuke.

In the early days of PHPnuke this was easier to implement. There is FNA 3.0 mod but there is quite a amount of code editing to get it to work.

It would just be nice to post to a particular forum and have that show up on the front page as news.

*Sorry this should have gone in 'RN Enhancement Requests and Suggestions'. If you could move it, be most appreciated!

If you had a very active forum this would mean you could end up with hundreds of posts in your news. If you just used the block showing the latest 15 posts wouldn't this do the job, or even Raven's recent posts block.

Hi jakec, The mod I once used took the main post and showed it only. The appearance of the forum news on front page matched the appearance of the current News system in Raven Nuke.. so when you clicked comments, it then took you to the thread with all the other comments.

It would be nice to have it as such

top portion, shows last 5 or so News topics (from forums) much like recent posts block.
Bottom portion the actual news posts..

someone visiting your site would initially think the news was the standard news system in phpnuke but when they hit comments it would take them to the actual thread in the selected forum.

Make sense?

It's been moved... Wink

To be honest, I think that we would be more inclined to replace with NSN News 2.0 (with a few mods). But, no definitive plans as such.

Thanks Montego, I would have moved it, but for some reason I didn't have the permissions yesterday. Confused

I personally don't use the forums on all my sites, so I wouldn't want this option as default. JMO

I have seen previous posts about FNA 3.0 (4.0 is not avail) here and I am working to implement it on my Raven Nuke site. If everything works, would you like the edited files?

I am truly surprised that people would want a separate News system when everywhere on the net I find people looking for a 'real' news system based off the forums. To me it just makes sense to pull news from forums as opposed to a different system. I remember a while back someone had this simple Forums news that all you did was alter a config file to say what forum to pull the news from. Can't find it anymore. Maybe it was Postnuke and PnPHPbb... Anyhow, users couldn't tell it was coming from the forums until they clicked to post a comment. FNA is nice and it will do however it would be awesome to have that old Forum news hack.

If anyone is reading this and would like the edited files I can make them available. If anyone knows about the old forum news I am talking about and has a link, that would be great too!

For anyone interested, I have edited the Raven files and the FNA does work perfectly with Raven Nuke... see this thread...

FNA I believe is discontinued because they want people to download a whole PHPNuke derivative instead of the FNA...
