message/news ordering

is there a way to order the news items so they appear newest first instead of oldest first?

In modules/News/index.php, at or near line 63 is code that should look like the following

    $sql = "SELECT sid, catid, aid, title, time, hometext, bodytext, comments, counter, topic, informant, notes, acomm, score, ratings FROM ".$prefix."_stories $qdb $querylang ORDER BY sid DESC limit $storynum";

Remove the word 'DESC'.

k thanks raven. i tried it but it doesn't seem to work, but i've started using submit news now instead of messages.

thanks anyway though!!!!

Hmmm. It works perfectly when I use it. You asked about News in your original post but now you mention messages. Messages are newest to oldest and News is newest to oldest by default.
