Having always imported my databases manually via phpmyadmin I would like to know how I would go about importing a large db (approx 100mb) via ssh/telnet.

This is something I have no idea about and would appreciate any help on how to acheive this and what the command would look like.

TIA

Darryl

So I take it that the sql file needs to be located on the server.

Would it work if it is still tarred or does it need to be untarred?

well im not that familiar with that stuff but i can imagine untarred..
i just tried to help and the search gave a nice result...
but another idea...
is it an idea that you ask your host to do this ?
For them its so easy ?
Just provide the file and voila...

It's not actually me thats doing it, it is a friend of mine who has just got himself a dedicated server because his site outgrew a shared environment, so the option of asking the host is not an option I assume.

He asked me to help and like I said earlier this is all foreign to me also. Sad

Just to let anyone else know, bigdump worked perfectly for me with a 400mb sql.

Brilliant tool.
