No I'm not on drugs lol

I have a dead slow connection, as my line is shared, and no spare lines for my phone company to give me a proper line.

I've tried file compression programs in the past, all claiming they'll speed up my connection and like a fool tried them.

However, the last 2 weeks I've been using OnSpeed. It works! I'm amazed. It's increased my measly 28k connection by x5

You download the file that tells the Onspeed servers you paid your yearly licence fee, then all the data/images you see in your browser goes to the Onspeed servers first then back to your browser.

It was originally designed for use in the battlefield in the States, but is now available for general public use.

It really is good.

I mention it just incase anyone here has a slow connection and wants to speed it up. It works with all connections, dialup, T1, Broadband, wireless etc.

It also increases the speed of uploading and downloading emails by x10.

Hmmm maybe I should ask them for commission lol

Interesting for sure and hope it helps you! This is not a new technology, to be sure. You all might want to do a google search for 'onspeed' and read up on it as well as some concerns and limitations. But, if these don't bother you then it sounds like a pretty good alternative to modem connections and possibly even a broadband boost. here are couple quick ones.

The latest version works with most browsers, as you know I use FireFox, so the first link was probably written before the version of Onspeed I'm using came out, looks like they tested a pre-release Beta version. They upgrade it frequently.

The quality of images you can adjust within Onspeeds settings, full acceleration does give blocky images, but 3/4 setting is ideal for surfing, and you can't tell the difference to be honest. I've adjusted it for acceptable quality for images with the maximum increase in speed that allows.

I was concerned a little about the privacy thing, but I dont mind if they know where I've been or what I look at because I dont go anywhere I'm not supposed to (well most of the time anyway lol) and my computers pretty secure so no worries there incase they wanted to take a peek at my hard drive. lol

And I knew it wouldnt help with downloading and uploading, it does take longer to log into my ftp, but thats about all. i'm just happy to be able to get pages load within seconds instead of minutes rofl

Thanks for the links tho Raven, it was interesting reading. I thought they were an American company as it was designed for the US forces originally. Didn't realise it was British, so I've learnt something there.
