We have banned 1 person on our site and put in the IP he was using. He then changed his IP and got back on and is at it again. How would I go about banning him for good? Is there a way that we can get him and not everyone in his city or whatnot. We have quite a few users even in the same city that he is in that are legit users. I'm just wondering what my options are.

If you are keeping Sentinel updated, it should automatically block activity
that could be hazardous to your website. If they change their IP's, it
shouldn't matter, Sentinel will keep blocking them. It's hard to block
someone that keeps changing their IP's without blocking larger goups
of IP's that would affect other users. I would say, keep your Sentinel
and IP Country tables updated.

Well to be exact the people I am hosting the site for want a previous employee to not even be able to access the site as since he sent in some spam through mail

so there was no hazardous activity just that the owners want this person banned from the site

You really don't have a lot of options. He can get another IP very easily if he really wants to (home, work, school, the library). Most ISP's use dynamic assignments so he'll get a new IP address periodically anyway.

What I have done for troublesome users is to block them based on what email address they use to register, and/or what password they use (they usually use the same password to register every time). I wish the default Your_Account module would help me with this, but it is pretty limited, so you have to hack the code if you want to go that route. Maybe CNBYA would help.

If you want the site to be accessible from anywhere there isn't much you can do except keep blocking the IP.

Do you have to be registered to access the site?

If the site is only accessed from one location you could block all IP's except the one for that location.
