I am running my website using Raven's RavenNuke(tm) v2.02.02 Distro release and NukeSentinel(tm) 2.4.2pl5.

I know how to block individual IP addresses from accesing my website.

Please can someone take me step by step through the process of blocking a complete country from accessing my website?

Thanks guys.

Hi jakec...Thanks for your reply, however there is a problem.

I want to use Nuke Sentinel to ban the countries. Moreover I HAVE to use Nuke Sentinel to ban the countries because I am not able to modify the .HTAccess files on the server I use.

Please can someone help with this.

Just go to Import Data -> Import to Blocked Ranges
Select the country

That should be all you need to do

isnt that weird that you cant modify the htaccess but can write to it by import ?
if you can write to it shouldnt it be editable to ?

but fact is,if you dont have access to the htaccess file is very likely that its not writable,meaning...sentinel wont write to it.
if thats so evaders suggestion wont work.

You don't need .htaccess writing active to use Import to Blocked Ranges. It will import into Sentinel's own tables to do blocking checks.

Of course, this only protects your Nuke site. Without the .htaccess writing, it cannot protect your whole server.

with all this dissagreement

whatever gives you that idea emmaphp ?
its natural that every topic comes with several replies / suggestions / ideas / etc..

simple said....and that should do it for this topic....
it depends on what the reason is why you wanna ban a whole country...
if theres no reason at all then importing the country ip in the sentinel table is good enough, and writing to htaccess isnt required.
but then do keep your ip2country stuff updated..

There's no disagreement. Just clarification.

Just do it already

Thanks evaders, but as Hitwalker had another theory and thought your original posting was not quite correct.

Anyhow I will go with your original suggestion.

I don't think Hitwalker was necssarily disagreeing, just looking for clarification and at the end of the day these forums are for discussion.

I think Hitwalker did a good job of explaining himself and like Hitwalker said we're here to help.

Now lets all sit down and have a nice cold beer together, I'm buying. Wink

Cheers

Emmaphp, I just realised you said your site is running NukeSentinel(tm) 2.4.2pl5, you really should consider upgrading to the latest version. Wink
