side by side center blocks: how to?

i have seen a couple sites that use blocks in the center on there homepage, but its not an ordinary center block. the blocks are side by side. an example of what im talking about is [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] i was curious how to do this.

NSN Center Blocks, available from NukeScripts.net. But there are some issues with it, as you can see in other posts.
