.....but it is like poking the sleeping lion at the Zoo with a stick....LOL! WAY too much fun to resist.

Just so noone takes my kindding the wrong way....IMHO as much work as ya'll have done and the depths you have gone to do it....I WANT you to work on it till YOU are happy with it. It makes no difference to me when ya'll release it. I am just giving ya'll a hard time. Why? See the above quote.

Very kewl feature Raven. Thanks for the pointer and the pick. This will make restoring much easier should something go awry in the upgrade process. Alright guys, wish me luck. Upgrade from 7.5 to Raven 2.02.02 in progress...

Upgrade went smoothly with no major problems. The upgrade script worked like a champ. Now I am working on getting the site locked down again by adding the various nodes back and ensuring certain functionality is disabled (HTML). Looking forward to the 2.10 release. I hope the upgrade to it goes as smoothly. Kudos for the hard work guys.

It would indeed be nice if there came an upgrade script directly from RavenNuke(tm) Version 2.02.02 to RavenNuke v2.10.00 for everyone who did not use any upgrades the past year !

Hall, there are scripts in the release for the upgrade from 2.02 to 2.10. It's all documented and nicely tucked away. As per the other posts in this thread, you will want to have a good backup anyway.

Raven, maybe a bit off-topic concerning the title of this topic, but I would like to ask something about what you've mentioned here above.

Does you have experience on using this for upgrading MySQL?

I am still running an early 4.0.xx MySQL version, and would like to change it to the latest 5 revision when your next version of Ravennuke is released.

Is this (phpMyAdmin) a safe way to transfer data from MySQL v4 to v5?

Do I have to create the tables in version 5 first? Can I copy the files on the disk to the new MySQL version? Personally I think the MySQL documentation is very vague about this issue!

Regards,

Martijn

I don't think MySQL 5 is officially supported by RavenNuke (or any Nuke??). I know there are issues with the topics module and MySQL 5 (which are easily fixed).

However I am running it on an XAMPP system. MySQL 5 is largely backwards compatible with 4, so you can, in general, use the same import/export scripts in phpMyAdmin to bring in data.

So far, I have found no issues with using RavenNuke on MySQL 5.0.x. RavenNuke uses a different Topics module, which does not suffer the same issue that Gremmie is referring to. I am also running it on the latest PHP 5.2.x.

HOWEVER, we do NOT officially support it as such. Be wary too of your add-on modules, blocks and hacks! I am saying that I have had no issues with CORE RavenNuke 2.02.02 and above. These other add-ons may NOT be coded to work on such setup.

At the moment I am planning to switch from phpnuke 8.0 (yeah, I know, shame on me!) to the upcoming release of Ravennuke. When I do the switch, I will also switch to MySQL 5 and PHP 5.2.

I have several modules and plugins installed, and off course I will post my experiences in the forum. I have already a virtual PC with a recent Apache and MySQL installed as a test-environment.

I know it's almost forbidden to talk about, but I am missing one thing to test it!

It would have been end of month last month but we just cannot seem to get the hackers and spammers to cooperate... Sad We are plugging some holes, some that have been in PHP-Nuke awhile. These only just came up in the last three weeks.

Sorry, but it will be released when it is ready.

Maybe it's time to plug the holes of some hackers. I really hate this kind of people.

There is no confidential info on my website, so I consider it no challenge to hack.... But...is it really so hard to make a hack proof system?

there is no such thing as "hack proof" that i am aware of...there is security measures that will protect you for the most part...however the ole saying of " if theres will theres a way" and "you can do anything you put your mind to" applies here.....and until someone can make it known how it was hacked can only a fix be made......

atleast IMO.....this is the way i look at it....
