had to change my webhost, i dropped the tables on the new database, went to import database.

On the database sql file i changed the database name to the new one now.

but get this error message after it tries to upload it

Ive tried uploading in zip and gz format but same message.

The actual database file after extracting is just a file format, no extenstions on it.

Error
SQL query:

-- MySQL dump 10.9
--
-- Host: localhost Database: staukcla_sta
-- ------------------------------------------------------
-- Server version 4.1.19-standard
/*!40101 SET @OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@@CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */;

the backup was done by cpanel on my last host .gz format

the new host uses vdeck, ive tried uploading the database using myphp but get the message above.

i also tried uploading the file using vdeck database restore, in zip, tar.gz and gz none will work.

just to test i the vdeck backup, i backed up the normal ravennuke install and it does a single .tar file, but when you extract it, the backup has a single file for each table etc..

so the restore isnt going to work via vdeck, is there any way to restore it via myphp

Perhaps, Can you back it up via the export option in phpmyadmin?

For the most part, phpmyadmin will use a simple format which is readable by most others. If possible, Export JUST the database from phpmyadmin, Then try to use that as the backup instead of the server backup function, This is common in my experience that the cpanel backup doesnt operate correctly.

on the old webhost were im transfering from it has this junk of code were in the new sql it just has a row of lines, nearly after every table

/*!40000 ALTER TABLE `nuke_bbtopics_watch` DISABLE KEYS */;
LOCK TABLES `nuke_bbtopics_watch` WRITE;
INSERT INTO `nuke_bbtopics_watch` (`topic_id`, `user_id`, `notify_status`) VALUES (4,2,1),(7,2,0),(5,2,0),(6,2,1),(12,2,0),(17,2,0),(19,2,0);
UNLOCK TABLES;
/*!40000 ALTER TABLE `nuke_bbtopics_watch` ENABLE KEYS */;

I have NEVER seen anything like that, Perhaps others here have and would be better suited to give advice on what to do, As for mine would be to delete the excess but Im not familiar with this and would only advice that you test that idea.

I dont have the time to wrap my head around this right now. Id like to but work and server have me tide up currently.

tried changing the bits but still give me errors, have just started from scratch now again Sad

for future backups, see the backup feature inside admin, what does that exactly restore ? will that restore all forum posts and admin, users etc.. ?

yes and no. In my experience that is not the best way but small sites may have a chance.

It seems to add html in some parts and giberish in others.

@ justcdr , i dont promise anything but i can see if its possible to restore it,but i need a copy of the backup you have.,..
you can pm me for that...

btw..cpanel backups usualy works flawless..
i use it often and always grab my whole stuff packed in about 845 mb file.
and in perfect shape..
but it depends on the host i guess..
