Running Nuke 7.6 patched

Went to post a new news story today. After I preview the story, I went to activate the story and the next screen is blank. URL brought up is admin.php

Whats worse is ALL my news stories from my main page are gone as well! Its as if the News module isn't active. Cant even get to my news stories by going directly to the modules URL.

I've tried changing the mod that is active in home, deactivating "news" and then reactivating it. I've optimized my database. Nothing has worked.

Any clues where to look next? Thanks!

Did any files change, with or without your knowledge?

not to my knowledge. Everything had been working fine. However, its been some time since I did a news posting, so its possible.

Sorry, I mean the file permissions.

Folder modules/news is set to 755
index.php is set to 644

What specific files do you want me to check permissions on?

Look for any files that have 000 permissions. In this case, I'd check the includes directory and the modules/News directory.

I checked - nothing with 000 permissions. and none of the files in either place have changed since I last posted a news story.

I'm thinking something corrupt in the database itself. Where might I start looking there?

I agree that there must be a problem in the database. Check the nuke_stories table.

yikes! I get error 145 when I try to open nuke_stories from within PHPMyAdmin, like it isn't there.

However the file files nuke_stories.MYD and nuke_stories.MYI are both within the DB folder under /var/lib/mysql/nuke/

Permissions for both are set to 660 - same as all the other tables within the DB.

this seems to be the only part of the site not working.

There should not be any files ending in MYD or MYI within the nuke file set.
From phpmyadmin you could try the repair table option.

But do you have a nuke_stories.frm?

There should be 3 types of nuke_stories.

At least on my server and my version of database.

ghostgeek, it's definitely a problem with the nuke_stories table, though there may also be problems with other tables.

Not sure how to repair, though I'd suggest using the phpMyAdmin utilities. Make sure you can browse the table afterwards.

That worked! Apparently something was corrupt within that table structure and repair worked. Thanks!
