Hey guys,

I have a few exclusive videos on my site. I would like to allow members to view the video but not download it.

The best thing I can think of is just a streaming media player, however they can still get the link to queue it up for download.

Any suggestions on best way to hide the url so it cant be downloaded?

good solution (paid product) would be THIS

you can then play all your vids, but nice thing about it is that you can download a free converter that converts your video into flv format, whitch is flash... Smile
so nobody can download your movies...
and best thing is it makes the file smaller also when its converted.

Ok, I know .swf files are stored in the temporary internet files folder. Is this not the case for .flv files?

no...or yes...(small edit)
if you have wmv or avi files, that doesnt matter...convert it and you then upload your .flv file....and your done...
flv files cannot be played on every player.
its useless to grab or steal it.

hitwalker may be correct...for now. Determined people often find ways to get around such attempts to prevent them from stealing...

not really there are .flv players and just like google video and you tube there are some scripts that convert the path so you can download the .flv...

but using the .flv its a good way for the average protection as they can not just right click and get the path .. and also the .swf is a just a player.. but there are ways to get the variables being passed.

i have a site and we have where we use out .swf player to stream the .flv off youtube with our watermark.. etc.. also i can download both the .flv from goodle at that with firefox as there is a script someone made with grease monkey and it puts a link on the page allowing you to get a .flv..

...funny but no..the flv itself will be useless to anyone else.
The original video file is converted and therefor after that useless.
The suggested player lets you put the media file completely outside any public are also.
