A member asked me to help him on his way to install some stuff and what security?...so i tell him ...well sentinel.
So he had the nuke 7.5 installed(clean) and i dropped the patches .
I installed sentinel 2.1.0 and done that more then once and as usual it goes very easy and no errors.

Its installed with bobs groups 1.6.0 ,and the your account 750 420.

Now comes the weird part...
All install was perfect and i can runaround the site as admin with no problem.

But then the owner comes and login as admin.
when he goes to...

Code:
admin.php?op=Configure

He gets banned and havent done anything.
Weird is that he can login and that the system recoqnize him as admin ,but when going to config he gets kicked out.
well hows that possible ?

And this doesnt happen to me....

You are having some weird issues! Maybe it's the air over ther ROTFL ? Does he show as an admin in NukeSentinel? If not, he was probably added after you installed it, in which case you need to do a Scan For New Admins => [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ]

Hi raven..

Well its no secret i prefer my older version of nuke but he logs in as admin...
i just know what the admin and password is cause i installed it for him...
so when i logout and he logs in he should be known and recoqnized AS admin...
it does but going to config he gets kicked out.

But thats not all....yeah its getting funny now....
i just tried to register as member and whatever i do, it simply says that i not typed the security code correctly...

So your probably rolling over the floor by now ......

See if Bob's comments at the top of this post help [ Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! ] . Is his site up to date with Chatserv's latest patches?

yes all patched and no errors whatsoever...
but its all deleted cause there were more things not working, specially the your account for the 7.5 was terrible.
anyway its decided to use the 6.5 (thank god for that) and patch it completely ...and changing most mods into nsn mods......yes nice job that will be.

Well i just installed his 6.5 all over again.....
using again the fully patched 2.6 and installed sentinel again and now everything seems to go ok....(naturally keeping my fingers crossed... Smile

What went wrong i dont know.....at some point the admin wasnt recoqnised and going to the simple nuke configuration automatically logged me out !

But weird is,is that the install was ok,atleast thats what it said...
And i managed to get banned as admin...
You try that raven....lol

I was getting an abuse banning as Admin when I was checking the details of a download. Don't know if this is related to the above but the gist is:

1) I had added a Download sample.pdf but when I typed in the URL I had sample.pgf (should have been pdf)

2) Downloads failed with no good error, but the download counter went up.

3) Details of the download would ban me as Abuse reason. When I corrected the spelling of my download all was well.

well all i know is that you cannot be banned as admin when logged in as admin.
on my own site i got banned a few times but naturaly my ip wasnt added .
but that was when i was working on my site.
so i know it works perfect.
if your logged in as admin and you get banned then theres something wrong.

Have you scanned for new admins?
Have you protected all admins?

Yeh I'd make sure he didn't save the link in favorites as admin.php?op=Configure or something which on stock nuke would just redirect to the login page. But on Sentinel Nuke it gets a ban I did it here this morning accidently.

I just tried it via a bookmark and it doesn't ban me at all. hitwalker, you try going to the guys site and navigating into op=Configure and see if it blocks you in hte process. Then you can give us a better description then it being second hand information Smile

hi bob,
well like i said to raven ,its hard to wait so within an half hour i did some checking and decided to trash the whole site.
something was completely gone wrong.
i managed to install the full patched 6.5 and to get banned going to the nuke-admin config.
that was weird, but more when it logged me out also...
and thats most the weird thing about install files.
they always say that install was ok and successfull.
so where it went wrong bob its hard to tell, and i can even make it more complicater for you............i remember that i checked the tables in the database and that the admin was infact in the ...nsnst admins table.
but bob....as far as i know and learned about sentinel is that normaly its impossible for an admin to get banned.
like i wrote before, whatever i do on my site....i do it logged in as admin, after that i logout and run around as member and see if all is still working properly.....naturaly with cleaned up cookies and history...
But not everybody does that....

hi bob,
well it happend again and just as easy....

the website owner logs in as admin ,clicks to edit something and bam he's out.
but it gets weirder....after logging in into his cpanel and phpmyadmin i showed him howto unban himself but the weird thing is that the ip banned was from him but sentinel showed it as anonymous.. and not his name.
But on his regular site jonny-5.com everything is ok and nothing happends...
The second site is installed at jonny-5.com/NEM
Can that be the problem ?
And no their not using write to htaccess.

A sub-directory has nothing to do with it or shouldn't. I've tested for that possible problem before. Is he using an Anonymizer when he's hitting the sub directory site? Do they share the same db?

Hello!

I am having a similar problem, I think. I just finished configuring my new install (went from 2.0.2 to 2.1.1) and logged out as admin.

Then I logged back in, went to Administration ... Clicked on BLOCKS .. and got banned. I am the only GOD user (or any admin of any type), my Name and Password are protected and written to my .staccess file.

When I remove the Sentinal statement at the beginning of mainfile.php I can access the site just fine. When I put it back, then I'm blocked again.

The message I get is:
Quote:
You have been blocked from entering this site.
You have attempted to improperly access the admin area of this site

Did I do something wrong??? How do I correct it?
