From almost a month ago I have daily around 125 visitor all the time on my site.. I am sure those are no real visitors, aren't they bots do you think?
2 old moderators of the site think we have more visitors and I can't explain to them what are bots.. is there a method to keep those unreal visitors away of our small site.

any help is much appreciated

NukeSentinel / Tracked IP Menu

Compare User Agents, Referers, IPs etc. There you have different ways.

The sentinel tracks every visit with a IP. So you have to compare the tracked IPs with the User-Agents and Referers. You should see which strange User-Agents are displayed everytime, which Referers are displayed but there are no backlinks to your own website etc. It exists no script or tool to indicate directly which visit is a bot or a "real" user. I have seen a massive count of russian and chinese referers. But its different for each website.

You have to compare it.

You might also check the error logs. If those visitors are generating 404s, they could be vulnerability scanners. I'm working on a way to use that behavior to identify and block them, and hope to have a version ready for testing soon.

Also, the user agent can be helpful, but it can be easily spoofed, too.
